The tradition of outstanding interscholastic programming has a long history in the Upper St. Clair School District.
As a participating member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), the Upper St. Clair School District interscholastic program’s three major goals are:
- emphasize the educational values of interscholastic athletics,
- promote safe and sportsmanlike competition, and
- abide by uniform standards for all interscholastic levels of competition.
The district’s interscholastic program fields more competitive teams than any other school district in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). Interscholastic programming begins at Fort Couch Middle School at seventh grade and continues through grades 9 to 12 at Upper St. Clair High School.
Athletic opportunities for students below seventh grade are offered through the Township of Upper St. Clair’s Department of Recreation and Leisure Services in conjunction with the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association. The Department also provides athletic opportunities for students in grades 7 to 12.
The USC High School sports roster includes a total of 15 different sports programs with one co-educational, 12 male and 11 female programs. There are also eight club sports.
