USC Boys Volleyball Sweeps Hempfield to Advance in WPIAL Playoffs

The Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team hosted Hempfield on Tuesday night in the First Round of the WPIAL Playoffs. The Panthers controlled the game from start to finish, sweeping the Spartans 3-0. Aidan Chambers led the way, registering 13 kills, and Beckett Cummins followed with 6 of his own. The win now brings the Panthers record to 12-5 on the season and they will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on #2 seeded Butler in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. The Upper St. Clair Boys Tennis team opened up their PIAA Playoff schedule on Tuesday with a matchup against Allderdice High School. Carter Lichtman (6-3, 5-7, 6-2), Sidney Weissert (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), Ethan Yealy (6-3, 7-5) and the doubles team of Daniel Smith and Rex Wanjte (6-1, 4-6, 6-2) all won their matches to give the Panthers the 4-1 win over the Dragons. The team now moves to 12-2 on the season and will be back in action on Friday when they take on Abington Heights High School in the PIAA Quarterfinals. The game will take place at Hershey Racquet Club and is scheduled for a 9:30 am start.

USC Baseball Powers into WPIAL Quarterfinals

Evan Smirniw went 4-4 with a home-run, triple, and six RBI's to lead the Upper St. Clair Baseball team to a 16-5 win over Plum on Tuesday in the First Round of the WPIAL Playoffs. Smirniw contributed to the 16 total hits by the Panthers as Nolan Wilson, Brooks York, Tanner Schroeck, and Luke Marchinsky also had multi-hit games. Wilson homered and drove in four, York drove in two runs, Schroeck doubled and drove in a run, and Marchinsky had three hits and two RBI's. Max Dietrick got the start on the mound and threw five solid innings, allowing six hits in his outing. The win moves the Panthers into the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will take on the winner of Moon and Baldwin. The game will take place on Tuesday, May 19th with the time and venue to be determined.

The Upper St. Clair Softball team traveled to Montour High School on Monday to take on Moon in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Playoffs. Rachel Scharrer hit a home run and Brooklyn Kemp recorded two hits to power the Panthers but in a close game, the Panthers ultimately fell, 5-4. The loss closes out the team's season with an overall record of 9-10. Congratulations to all members of the team on a great season!

Brooklyn Kemp and Bridget Anthony combined to allow only three hits and one run as the Upper St. Clair Softball team defeated North Catholic, 4-1, on Thursday. Kemp tossed the first five innings while Anthony sealed the game throwing the last two and the pair combined for six strikeouts. Anthony also was a force at the plate, tripling and driving in a run. Geneva Eisinger and Lainie Guarino each had two hits and Guarino drove in two runs in the game as well. The win brings the Panthers record to 9-9 on the season and they will open up their WPIAL Playoff schedule on Monday when they travel to Montour High School to square off with Moon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

After clinching a playoff berth earlier in the week, the Upper St. Clair Baseball team returned to the diamond on Thursday as they hosted Morgantown High School. In a low scoring game, the Panthers suffered a 4-3 defeat despite six solid innings on the mound from Ethan Caprobres. Nico D'Orazio and Brooks York each had two hits offensively and Cooper Stutzman and Tanner Schroeck each tripled. The Panthers will have a quick turnaround as they are scheduled to host Mount Lebanon on Friday in their final tune up before the playoffs.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team hosted Mount Lebanon on Thursday night knowing that a win would qualify them for the WPIAL Playoffs. After dropping the first set, the Panthers rallied to take the next three and defeat the Blue Devils, 3-1. Aidan Chambers led the way with 16 kills and Beckett Cummins followed with 8. The Panthers, who handled the Big Macs with ease earlier in the season, took home another convincing win, sweeping the Big Macs 3-0. The win brings the teams overall record to 10-5 (5-4) and they will return to the court on Thursday to host Mount Lebanon in the final regular season game of the year.

The Upper St. Clair Flag Football team traveled to Mount Lebanon High School on Tuesday for WPIAL Playoff action. The Panthers first squared off with Thomas Jefferson and defeated the Jaguars, 46-15, to advance to the WPIAL Quarterfinals. The Quarterfinals, held on the same night, saw the Panthers match up with the rival Blue Devils. The teams met just a few weeks ago in the regular season which the Panthers won, but this time the Panthers were unable to get their offense going and suffered a 28-8 defeat. The loss ends the Panthers season with a fantastic record of 13-1. Congratulations to all members of the team on a very successful inaugural season.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Lacrosse team hosted Central Catholic on Tuesday night for the teams final home game of the regular season. The Panthers dominated from start to finish, defeating the Vikings 16-3. Beckett Mayfield led the charge as he scored five goals and Charlie Leimkuehler added three of his own in the victory. The win brings the Panthers record to 7-8 on the season and they will travel to Seneca Valley on Thursday for their final game of the regular season.

Nico D'Orazio reached base five times, including a double and a home run, and drove in three runs to power the Upper St. Clair Baseball team to an 11-2 win over Chartiers Valley on Tuesday. Evan Smirniw and Tanner Schroeck added more offensive support as they each had two hits and three RBI's in the win. On the mound, Grayson Valancius tossed a complete game and limited the Colts to only three hits and two runs. The victory moves the Panthers record to 9-7 (6-6) and has clinched them a spot in the WPIAL Playoffs. Before the playoffs start the Panthers are scheduled to play two non-section games. The first will be on Thursday as they will play host to Morgantown High School.

The Upper St. Clair Softball team traveled to Mount Lebanon on Monday for the teams final away contest of the regular season. The Panthers fell behind early before rallying to tie the game in the top of the 7th inning, but the Blue Devils were able to plate a run in the bottom of the 7th, resulting in an 8-7 win over the Panthers. Rachel Scharrer led Upper St. Clair offensively, going 2-4 with a home run and two RBI's. Caroline Barnard had two hits of her own and Alexa Demas and Geneva Eisinger each doubled in the loss. The defeat brings the Panthers overall record to 8-9 on the season and they will close out the regular season on Wednesday when they host North Catholic.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Tennis team took on Mount Lebanon on Monday in the WPIAL Semifinals at Bethel Park High School. Following earlier playoff sweeps of Shaler in the First Round and Franklin Regional in the Quarterfinals, the #2 seeded Panthers faced a tougher test with the Blue Devils. The team was able to get out to a 3-1 lead over Mount Lebanon, clinching them the victory before the final match that ended up going the Blue Devils way. The 3-2 victory puts the Panthers in the WPIAL Championship which will see them take on #1 seeded North Allegheny. The match will be held at Washington and Jefferson college on Tuesday and is scheduled for a 2:00 pm start.

Max Dietrick tossed a complete game, three-hitter, as the Upper St. Clair Baseball team defeated Chartiers Valley on Monday night, 4-1. Dietrick struck out three Colts and allowed zero earned runs in the outing as the team opened up their final section series of the year with a win. Nolan Wilson had two hits, including a double, to lead the Panther offense and Brooks York also had two hits and added an RBI. The win brings Upper St. Clair's record to 8-7 (5-6) on the season and they will look for the series sweep of the Colts on Tuesday when they travel to Woodville Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 pm.

Logan Stewart led the team with four goals, Beckett Mayfield followed with three, and Charlie Leimkuehler added two of his own. The loss drops the Panthers record to 6-8 on the season and they will return to the field tomorrow when they host Central Catholic.

Aaron Goettler tossed a complete-game, one hitter, as the Panthers defeated the Eagles, 10-0, in five innings. Nolan Wilson powered the offense with a double and four RBI's and Cooper Sutzman tripled and drove in two in the victory. The win brings the team's record to 7-7 on the season and they will now gear up for their last section series of the season. The Panthers will open up their two-game set with Chartiers Valley on Monday when they host the Colts in Game 1. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

A back-and-forth game ensued as the Indians took the first set, but the Panthers rallied back to take sets two and three. Peters Township then answered, winning set four by a narrow two-point margin and carried that momentum into set five, where they also won by two points, resulting in a 3-2 match win. The loss brings the Panthers record to 9-5 (4-4) on the season and they will look to rebound on Tuesday when they travel to Canon-McMillan. The Upper St. Clair Flag Football team hosted Clairton on Wednesday night at Panther Stadium as they looked to cap off a perfect regular season. The Panthers did that with ease, defeating the Bears 44-0. Avery Bayer led a strong running attack as she totaled three rushing touchdowns throughout the game and Chloe Bird and Lilly Kushner combined to throw four passing touchdowns with Bird tossing three and Kushner adding one. Ryan Prunzik caught two of those touchdowns while Mia Huzjak and Claire Birmingham each caught one and Cam Friday led the Panther defense with one interception. The win finalizes the Panthers regular season record at a perfect 12-0 and earns them the Section Championship. Up next will be the opening round of the WPIAL Playoffs that has the Panthers scheduled to play on Tuesday, May 5th at Mount Lebanon High School with a game time of 5:00 pm. The Panthers opponent is still to be determined.

The Athletic Registration Fee Portal for 2025-26 is now open. Please go to the Registration tab on uscsdathletics.com to enter information. Any student at USC High School who is participating in athletics will need to submit the 2025-26 Athletic Registration Fee using the form on the Registration tab. The athletic fee is $75 per athlete, per sport, per season. For example, if an athlete plays a sport in the fall and/or winter, they still owe $75 for playing a spring sport. The fee must be paid prior to the first contest.
